VISA INFORMATION TO TURKEY FOR CANADIAN CITIZENS

Ordinary and official passport holders of Canada are required to have visa to enter Turkey. The term "official passports" covers diplomatic, service, special and official passports.

If the purpose of the trip is pleasure, business or attending a meeting, Canadian ordinary passport (blue) holders can obtain entry visa (sticker visa) in arrival at the point (international airports, sea ports and border gates) of entry in Turkey. No document or photos are required to obtain visa at the point of entry. Visa offices at the international airports in Turkey are open 24/7. Visa fee at the point of entry is US$ 60.00 or Euro 45 (cash) for Canadian ordinary passport holders traveling to Turkey for pleasure, business or attending a meeting. This visa allows the holder to stay in Turkey for a maximum period of 90 days and is valid for multiple entries during that period. It is a quicker and easier way for Canadian travelers to obtain a tourist visa to Turkey. On the other hand the electronic visa (e-Visa) replaces sticker visa. Please note the following information!

***** ATTENTION NEW REGULATION ****

As of April 17, 2013, electronic visa (e-Visa) replaces “sticker visa” which was issued at the border crossings. After a pass time, the sticker visa will be no longer available at the border. In this regard it is recommended to obtain the visa thru the e-visa system.  Applicants just need to log on to www.evisa.gov.tr, provide the requested information, and make online payment (after the application is approved) and download their e-Visa.

Please note that e-visa is only valid when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. Other purposes, such as work and study, require regular visa given by Embassies or Consulates

The visa can also be obtained from the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa or the Turkish Consulate General in Toronto. Visa applications can be made in person or by post by the residency of the applicant to the appropriate Turkish missions listed above.

Canadian official passport holders cannot obtain the visa at the point of entry in Turkey and thru the e-visa system; visa must be obtained from the Embassy prior intended travel to Turkey. (Please see bottom of the page to obtain the visa application form for the Canadian official passport holders)

Citizens of some countries have the possibility to obtain e-visa. Please click on www.evisa.gov.tr to see the list of countries whose nationals are eligible for e-visa.

For cruise passengers: Those cruise passengers coming to a Turkish port of call by a cruise ship and thereafter leave Turkey by the same cruise ship for another country, are exempt from visa for a maximum period of 72 hours (with the permission given by the local security authorities).

The passengers of cruise ships are allowed to enter and stay overnight in the port cities of Turkey upon the permission given by local border police authorities. These passengers are not required to obtain an entry visa to Turkey.

For children under the age of 18:  Children under the age of 18 travelling to Turkey without parents must have a notarized parental consent to travel from either both parents and their non-accompanying parent, as applicable.

OBTAINING VISA TO TURKEY FROM THE TURKISH MISSIONS IN CANADA

Visa applications of the residents of the provinces of Ontario (The National Capital Region and Eastern Ontario are exempted), Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and territories of Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut Island should be made to the Turkish Consulate General in Toronto.

Visa applications of the residents of the National Capital Region, Eastern Ontario (east of Kingston) and the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island should be made to the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ottawa.

Due to the high volume of applications for Turkish visas, the Turkish consulates are not in a position to provide a specific duration for visa processing. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you apply for visas, well before (e.g. one month) the planned visit to Turkey. If you are the citizen of a country who is eligible for e-visa, it is highly recommended to obtain visa thru the electronic visa system.

Canadian ordinary passport holders also can obtain a visa from the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa at a cost of CAD$ 58.00 for a single entry or CAD$ 192.00 for multiple entries both valid for 90 days in 180 days. Visas are valid for 90 days from the date of issue. The visa fee is applied per person, not per passport, and applies to children listed on parent's passport. Visa fee for the citizens of all other countries are subject to change. Visa application can be made by post.
